Job Overview
Primoris T&D provides construction, maintenance, and engineering of electric Transmission, Distribution, and Substation infrastructure. Ancillary services include wireless telecommunication installation, environmental cleanup, project management, and storm restoration services.
The Substation Project Manager is responsible for overseeing Substation construction projects from initiation through closeout. This role supports the planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution of assigned projects while ensuring compliance with company standards, safety requirements, and customer expectations. The Project Manager works under moderate supervision and collaborates closely with internal teams, contractors, and stakeholders to deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget.

Primoris Energy Services is a major direct-hire contractor in the U.S. delivering self‑performed turnkey industrial construction and EPC services. We offer these services to our clients within the refining, gas processing, chemical/petrochemical, hydrogen, power generation, mining, pulp and paper industries from the first groundbreaking activity all the way through commissioning and start‑up of the project. Key Responsibilities- Support the planning, coordination, & execution of construction projects in accordance with scope, schedule, and budget.
- Lead the development of project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and progress reports.
- Collaborate with project coordinators to manage material & subcontractor procurement, ensure prompt handling of engineering submittals, and address construction requirements efficiently.
- Monitor project progress & performance through regular updates & field visits.
- Oversee progress updates, including change tracking & approval of change order requests, to ensure accurate & timely billing of completed work in accordance with the customer’s billing requirements.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement, & construction teams to ensure project deliverables align with design & operational requirements.
- Manage & track project documentation, including contracts, change orders, RFIs, & meeting minutes.
- Identify & report project risks, issues, and variances; assist in developing mitigation strategies, corrective actions, & recovery plans.
- Facilitate progress meetings and provide clear communication across all project stakeholders.
- Assist in project closeout activities, including timely demobilization, documentation, & lessons learned.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Physical Sciences, Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field required OR minimum 7+ years of project management experience in Substation construction, utilities, or infrastructure.
- Experience working with project management & analytical tools (e.g., Smartsheet, Power BI, Excel, MS Project, or Primavera).
- Field experience is a plus.
- EPC experience is a plus.
- Understanding construction project lifecycle, progress tracking, and cost management principles.
- Ability to generate change orders themselves and manage them through execution.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Smartsheet, and other project management tools.
- Ability to work effectively in a team‑oriented environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
