The Destination Services Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and visitor engagement functions of the Discover Denton Visitor Center. This position ensures the Visitor Center operates as a welcoming, organized, and visitor-focused resource that supports Discover Denton’s mission and enhances the overall visitor experience.

As part of a Destination Management & Marketing Organization (DMMO), the Destination Services Supervisor oversees front-line visitor services, supervises Visitor Center staff and volunteers, coordinates operational logistics, and supports community engagement initiatives that promote Denton as a vibrant and welcoming destination.

Duties & Responsibilities Visitor Center Operations:
  • Oversee the daily operations and functionality of the Discover Denton Visitor Center.
  • Supervise Visitor Center staff, volunteers, interns, and scheduling activities.
  • Ensure high-quality customer service through in-person, phone, email, and digital visitor interactions.
  • Maintain Visitor Center appearance, organization, displays, informational materials, and public-facing spaces.
  • Coordinate distribution and inventory of visitor guides, maps, brochures, and tourism information materials.
  • Coordinate facility-related needs, office supplies, operational equipment, and Visitor Center maintenance requests.
  • Assist with opening, closing, operational procedures, and facility readiness.
Visitor Engagement & Community Outreach
  • Coordinate Visitor Center activations, community outreach efforts, and public engagement opportunities.
  • Support visitor inquiries by providing recommendations regarding attractions, restaurants, events, entertainment, and local experiences.
  • Assist with welcome initiatives and visitor hospitality efforts for community events, conferences, tournaments, and group activities.
  • Support organizational event logistics and Visitor Center participation at community functions and tourism related activities.
Administration & Reporting
  • Prepare visitor statistics, operational summaries, reports, and supporting documentation as needed.
  • Monitor visitor traffic trends and customer feedback to identify operational improvement opportunities.
  • Respond to visitor questions, concerns, and service-related issues in a professional and timely manner.
  • Assist with departmental operational planning and budget tracking.
Leadership & Staff Support
  • Train, mentor, and support Visitor Center staff, volunteers, and interns.
  • Foster a professional, welcoming, and service-oriented environment within the Visitor Center.
  • Support implementation of organizational standards, procedures, and customer service expectations.
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality, Tourism, Communications, Business Administration, Event Management, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in hospitality, visitor services, tourism, customer experience, event operations, or a related field.
  • Supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and relevant experience may be considered.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of visitor services, hospitality operations, and customer experience principles.
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Ability to supervise and coordinate staff, volunteers, and daily operations.
  • Ability to problem-solve and respond professionally in fast-paced environments.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and general office technology systems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal communication, written correspondence, and public interaction.
  • Ability to exercise professionalism, discretion, and sound judgment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team-oriented environment.
