Department Summary

The University of North Texas (UNT) College of Music is America's largest public-university music program and one of its most respected. UNT offers fully accredited degrees from the bachelor to doctoral levels and is home to the world's first jazz studies degree program. Faculty include internationally acclaimed artists and scholars in commercial music, composition, conducting, ethnomusicology, music business, music education, music history, music theory, and performance.

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. Position Overview

Teaching:

Recruit, retain, and teach an outstanding enrollment of undergraduate and graduate trumpet students. Supervise graduate-degree requirements such as serving on graduate committees and guiding doctoral projects/documents. Other duties as assigned including, but not limited to chamber-music coaching, trumpet pedagogy and literature classes.

Service:

Participate fully in academic and professional activities, including service assignments, across the campus and the profession.

Minimum Qualifications

Earned master's degree in music with minimum three years professional performance experience required. Demonstrated success teaching at the college/university level with a proven record of attracting, developing, and retaining outstanding students. Artist-level performer of solo and chamber repertoire.

A terminal degree in the assigned discipline or related field is required for teaching graduate level courses.

Additional consideration may be given for equivalent applied experience in accordance with faculty credentialing guidelines. Meets the criteria outlined in UNT Policy 06.005.

Preferred Qualifications

Earned doctorate in music strongly preferred. An established record of professional trumpet performance experience. Professional experience as a soloist, chamber musician, and/or orchestral musician. Performance expertise across repertoire including and beyond the European canon.
