Department SummaryThe Department of Physics at the University of North Texas offers bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. Faculty and students address scientific challenges in astrophysics, solid-state physics, photonics, atomic and molecular physics, and various other areas. UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position OverviewThe Department of Physics at the University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level, with competitive startup, salary, and benefit packages. The candidate's research should be in the area of extragalactic astrophysics. Candidates are expected to develop a vigorous and externally funded research program, teach effectively at the undergraduate and graduate levels, mentor student research, and provide service to the department, university and community.
Minimum Qualifications- Hold a Ph.D. in physics or astrophysics.
- A minimum of one year of postdoctoral experience, or equivalent professional experience, after the Ph.D. is required.
- Demonstrate a commitment to teaching.
- Employees in this job may be responsible for conducting research on, working on, or having the ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and they must be able to maintain the security and integrity of the infrastructure related to this role.
