Minimum Hourly Rate: $16.40
Duty Days: 187 days per year
Primary
Purpose:
Supervises students assigned to In‑School Suspension (ISS) for disciplinary reasons. Maintains a highly structured and orderly environment. Works under the general supervision of the campus principal and immediate direction and general supervision of a certified teacher daily.
Qualifications Education- High school diploma or equivalent and ability to pass a rigorous content‑oriented exam
- Associate degree or 48 semester hours of college credit
- Current Texas educational aide certificate or ability to obtain
- Experience as a classroom aide with emphasis on child growth and development
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to use personal computer
- Ability to exercise good judgment in handling confidential information
- Works with certified teacher and campus administrators to create and maintain an orderly and highly structured classroom environment.
- Works with individual students to complete assignments given by classroom teacher.
- Consults classroom teachers regarding student assignments.
- Distributes, collects, and checks student assignments for accuracy.
- Maintains individual files of completed student assignments and return to classroom teachers.
- Manages student behavior and administers discipline according to board policies, administrative regulations, and Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Records student attendance and discipline referrals using personal computer.
- Supervises students assigned to ISS during lunch and bathroom breaks.
- Follows district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Participates in professional development, department meetings, and special events as assigned.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Tools and Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment
Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping
Motion: Moderate walking
Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds)
Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise; may require occasional district‑wide and statewide travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress
