Position: Assistant Director Civic Engagement - Center for Student Involvement
TITLE

Assistant Director Civic Engagement

JOB SUMMARY

The Assistant Director Civic Engagement in the Center for Student Involvement advances a campus-wide culture of civic engagement by integrating leadership, student engagement, and service into the co-curricular experience. This role advises the Student Government Association, mentors student leaders, and fosters ethical decision-making and meaningful dialogue. In collaboration with campus and community partners, the Assistant Director develops and facilitates a range of civic learning initiatives, including service projects, voter engagement, and community partnerships.

Through these efforts, the position promotes civic leadership, social responsibility, and positive social change. The performance evaluation is conducted through the performance evaluation system and in accordance with the University Policies and Procedures.

ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS

Reports to:

Director Center for Student Involvement

Supervises:
Student Government Association, possible student employees and graduate assistants

ESSENTIAL DUTIES - May include, but not limited to the following:

* Provides vision and leadership for innovative growth and expansion of civic engagement programming that includes Student Government Association in addition to continual program improvement and refinement.

* Aligns programming with TWU's conceptual framework to support a visionary co-curricular civic engagement program with student learning outcomes.

* Liaison and engages with campus partners including University Housing & Dining Services, Undergraduate Studies, Athletics, Student Accountability and other related programs to collaborate and create synergy in civic engagement messaging.

* Utilizes databases for tracking civic engagement and service activities as well as community, campus, and student partners for data-based decision making and reporting purposes.

* Supports the assessment and evaluation planning and reporting for civic engagement programming including demonstrating the scope, efficiency/rating, and outcomes/impacts of civic engagement programming.

* Recruits, tracks, and mentors Student Government Association throughout the academic year.

* Advises, supervises, and provides programmatic and developmental support for civic engagement specific student organizations (ex - SGA and Pioneer Votes).

* Oversees campus voter registration and education programming, including voter deputy process.

* Provides individual and group consultation related to civic engagement and service to students as requested/needed.

* Administers the annual programmatic budget with supervisor.

* Supports marketing, outreach plans, and campaigns focused on civic engagement and service.

* Responds to requests of supervisor to best support a growing program.

* Participates in CSI meetings, professional development, and related team-building activities.

* Participates in outreach for CSI at information fairs and other opportunities.

* Serves on relevant campus and community wide committees.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

* Support all large-scale events for CSI;
Pioneer Camp, Redbud, Ring Ceremony, The BIG Event, and Make a Difference Day.

* Opportunity to teach a UNIV 1231 section.

* Performs other duties as assigned and requested.

EDUCATION

Master's degree in higher education, student development, counseling, or a related field is preferred. Additional education beyond a master's degree may substitute for some of the required experience.

EXPERIENCE

Three years of related work experience advising students and student groups, may include graduate student work/assistantship.

REQUIREMENT

Valid Texas driver's license and a safe driving record such as required by the university for Driver's Authorization.

Regular and reliable attendance at the University during regular scheduled days and work hours is an essential function of this position.
