Purpose:

Foster a dynamic and engaging learning environment that supports students' intellectual, emotional, physical, and social development. Design and implement instructional strategies that cultivate student success, ensuring alignment with district curriculum, educational best practices, and state standards. Promote a culture of learning, collaboration, and personal growth to prepare students for future academic and life achievements. Provide dance instruction that develops technique, artistic expression, and performance skills through structured practice and staged performances aligned with Fine Arts standards.

Qualifications:

Education and Certification

* Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university

* Master's degree (preferred)

* Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or training for the subject and level assigned

* ESL certification (preferred)

* Or ability to obtain ESL certification within one year of hire

Experience

* One (1) year of clinical teaching (preferred)

* One (1) year of full-time teaching experience may be substituted for clinical teaching experience.

Knowledge and Skills

Dance Content Expertise

* Knowledge of various styles of dance

* Ability to choreograph dance and drill team performances

* Ability to direct staged dance productions

* Knowledge of the operation of drill team programs

* Knowledge of University Interscholastic League (UIL) policies governing athletics and the Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) All-State Dance process

General Teaching Competencies

* Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

* Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles

* Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.

* Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned

* Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

* Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth

* Demonstrate professionalism, ethical conduct, and accountability in all interactions and responsibilities.

* Advanced organizational, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

Dance Instruction and Performance

* Collaborate with district dance teachers through the Professional Learning Community (PLC) to support instructional alignment and program consistency.

* Provide instruction and feedback to assist students in analyzing and improving dance technique and performance quality.

* Support and participate in drill team direction and school-approved events, including performances, games, competitions, and Texas Dance Educators Association (TDEA) activities.

* Plan and supervise student performances and productions that support instructional objectives and showcase student learning.

Instructional Strategies

* Implement lesson plans aligned with the district's curriculum, demonstrating written preparation as required.

* Deliver engaging instruction using appropriate strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that address diverse learning styles and student needs, following Texas Education Agency guidelines, board policies, and administrative regulations.

* Integrate technology effectively into instruction to enhance student learning and engagement.

* Assess student learning styles and use results to tailor instructional activities for maximum impact.

* Collaborate with special education teachers to modify curricula and provide appropriate accommodations for students receiving special education services, ensuring compliance with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs).

* Work collaboratively with colleagues to establish instructional goals, objectives, and methods that align with district expectations.
