Department SummaryThe Study Abroad Office coordinates the University’s study abroad and exchange programs, expanding student participation and integrating study abroad into the UNT curriculum.
Position OverviewThe Faculty‑Led Programs Advisor supports the development, implementation, and administration of assigned faculty‑led study abroad programs, ensuring they are academically sound, cost‑effective, and accessible. The role manages the full lifecycle of programs—including design support, student advising and recruitment, and coordination of administrative and logistical processes—while serving as the primary resource for faculty and students, ensuring compliance with university and federal policies.
Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Eligible to serve as a Designated School Official under U.S. Department of Homeland Security requirements.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
- Ability to manage complex, multi‑phase processes with strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated skills in advising, customer service, and stakeholder communication
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills
- Ability to interpret and clearly communicate policies and procedures
- Ability to build collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and campus partners
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Master’s degree in International Education, Higher Education Administration, or a related field
- Experience in study abroad administration, especially faculty‑led programs
- Experience in program development, advising, and student recruitment within higher education
- International experience (study, work, or residence abroad)
- Proficiency with Terra Dotta, People Soft, and business expense management systems (e.g., Coupa)
- Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships, work independently, take initiative, and handle confidential information
- Support faculty in developing and proposing faculty‑led programs by advising on best practices, logistics, and compliance; assist with proposal approval, implementation planning, and budget development.
- Coordinate administrative processes across all phases of the program lifecycle, including course creation, student registration, fee billing, travel requests, expense reconciliation, and budget tracking.
- Advise and recruit students for assigned study abroad programs, represent the Study Abroad Office at campus events, design marketing materials, and provide ongoing support throughout the application process.
- Conduct information sessions, financial aid workshops, and promotional presentations to increase student participation and support official communications related to faculty‑led programming.
Communicating with others to exchange information; sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing.
Environmental HazardsNo adverse environmental conditions expected.
Work ScheduleMonday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Some weekend or evening activities may be required.
