Position Overview

The Faculty‑Led Programs Advisor supports the development, implementation, and administration of faculty‑led study abroad programs at the University of North Texas. The role manages the full lifecycle of programs, including design support, student advising and recruitment, and coordination of administrative and logistical processes.

Department Summary

The Study Abroad Office coordinates the university’s study abroad and exchange programs and works to expand student participation and integrate study abroad into the UNT curriculum.

Job Duties
  • Program and Administrative Support – Advises faculty on best practices, logistics, and compliance requirements; facilitates proposal approval; supports implementation planning and budget development; delivers pre‑departure orientations and provides ongoing support.
  • Program Operations & Administration – Coordinates all phases of the program lifecycle, manages academic coordination, student registration, fee billing, travel requests, expense reconciliation, and budget monitoring; collaborates with campus partners to improve workflows.
  • Student Advising and Recruitment – Oversees recruitment and advising for a portfolio of programs; represents the Office at events and marketing activities; provides guidance on application processes and risk management.
  • General Marketing and Outreach – Conducts presentations, workshops, and promotional events; contributes to marketing campaigns to increase student participation.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Eligibility to serve as a Designated School Official under U.S. Department of Homeland Security requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in International Education, Higher Education Administration, or related field.
  • Experience in study abroad administration, especially faculty‑led programs.
  • Experience in program development, advising, and student recruitment in higher education.
  • International experience (study, work, or residence abroad).
  • Proficiency with Terra Dotta, People Soft, and business expense management systems such as Coupa.
  • Demonstrated ability to build effective working relationships, work independently, take initiative, and handle confidential information.

  • Demonstrated skills in advising, customer service, and stakeholder communication.
  • Prioritize tasks and manage multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Interpret and clearly communicate policies and procedures.
  • Build collaborative relationships with faculty, students, and campus partners.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements

Communicating with others to exchange information; sedentary work primarily involving sitting/standing.

Environmental Hazards

No adverse environmental conditions expected.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Some weekend or evening activities may be required.
