Position OverviewThe University of North Texas (UNT) Green Brigade Marching Band (GB) is looking for a talented and student-centered percussion instructor to create a positive culture with high musical standards. Duties include arranging the percussion parts (snares, tenors, bass drums, cymbals, front ensemble) for all pre‑game, halftime, and exhibition shows, stand‑tunes (as needed), and coordinating percussion personnel for various campus and off‑campus appearances.
Instruction is provided during band camp week (August 8‑16) and regular fall semester rehearsals (Mon 4:00 p.m.‑7:30 p.m., Wed/Fri 4:00 p.m.‑6:30 p.m.). Attendance is required at all home game rehearsals and performances, and when the band travels to an away football game (including bowl games). Instruction occurs only during the fall semester. The drumline marching percussion instructor works with the Green Brigade director to purchase needed equipment.
The position is annually renewable at the discretion of the director.
A bachelor’s degree in music education or performance with a concentration in percussion.
Preferred QualificationsThree to five years of teaching experience in the public school or university setting and participation and/or experience teaching in the DCI or WGI circuits.

- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
