Department Summary
The UNT Career Center is responsible for the career development and employment of all UNT students and alumni. It has responsibility for all Career Readiness, Coaching, and Education, Student Employment, Internships, and Post-Graduate Employment of UNT students. The Career Center operates as a centralized department with a decentralized approach and sustains collaborative partnerships with academic colleges, student affairs departments, employers, and alumni.
Our vision is to empower students and alumni to identify and achieve individual goals for career success. Our mission is to design and deliver high-quality career services to UNT students and alumni through collaboration with campus, local and global partnerships.
Position Overview
The job market is rapidly changing, and students need career guidance, education, and practical experiences to accomplish their goals. Students are in need of better training and coaching to help them make informed and confident decisions and adjust to evolving professional planning, development, and workplace needs. For this position, the Career Center at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a Career Coach to join the High School Career Connect and curriculum team with general career coaching responsibilities for pre- and post-college populations.
Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to:
Lead efforts toward planning and implementing career coaching, education, experiential learning, mentoring, and job search programs and services to students, by working with a variety of students, faculty, and staff in schools (7th-12th grade) and graduates 4-10 years post-graduation. This includes, but is not limited to, individual advising, teaching, peer mentor oversight, curriculum support, programming, group workshops, services, outcomes, and deliver reports to their supervisor.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in related field and two years of student services, student affairs, counseling, advising, or related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
Excellent public speaking skills with experience in conducting training workshops. Ability to provide leadership and mentoring to student populations. Experience in networking across departments and programs. Ability to communicate and work with the population. Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects. Excellent verbal and written communication, and computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
The preferred candidate will possess the following additional qualifications:
Experience in coaching, counseling, teaching, social work, human services, or related field.
Required License/Registration/Certifications
