Department SummaryThe Department of Philosophy and Religion is recognized nationally and internationally for its strength in social and environmental philosophy. We offer the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Philosophy, with courses spanning the history of Western, Asian, and European philosophy and religion. Students build a strong foundation in philosophy’s core areas—history, epistemology, logic, metaphysics, and ethics—while also exploring faculty specializations in environmental philosophy, philosophy of science and technology, political philosophy, as well as innovative courses on climate change, energy, food, water, and world religions.
UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.
Position OverviewThe Jewish Studies Program in the Department of Philosophy and Religion at the University of North Texas (UNT) in Denton invites applications for adjunct faculty in the areas of Jewish thought, religion, and culture. The Department of Philosophy seeks qualified individuals for its Adjunct pool and welcomes applicants at any time. This posting is for the Fall 2026, Spring 2027, and Summer 2027 semesters.
We are inviting scholars who are interested in teaching courses on a broad range of topics, including, but not limited to, Jewish philosophy, Jewish social and political thought, Jewish religious beliefs and practices, Jewish mysticism (Kabbalah), Jewish feminism, theories of antisemitism, Zionism, Israeli thought and culture, as well as Jewish thought and culture in Latin America, Africa, or Asia.
Minimum QualificationsMA in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or related fields.
Preferred QualificationsPhD in Philosophy, Religious Studies, or related fields.
Physical RequirementsCommunicating with others to exchange information.
