Position Overview
The STEM mentor position is for college students or graduates majoring in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) to participate in our 2026 summer UNT STEM Camp program as near‑peer mentors (NPMs). NPMs will collaborate with a team of other mentors to facilitate STEM activities with groups of students. Additionally, the mentorship requires the completion of one or two original lesson plans and a final report.
Minimum Qualifications- Major in Mathematics, Science or Engineering.
- Interest in teaching the importance of serving underrepresented populations as defined by NSF, and experience working with K‑12 students.
Undergraduate or graduate degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
Job Duties- Act as STEM teachers to collaborate with a team of other mentors to facilitate STEM activities with groups of students.
- Complete one or two original lesson plans and a final report.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.
- Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Monday‑Friday between 8:00am and 5:00pm as needed, May 26th through June 22nd.
