Department Summary

Established in 2015, the Institute's mission is to develop, support, and sustain innovative art and design practices and processes for K-12 education through a program of research, project administration, and public dissemination of information.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for planning, coordinating and developing programs and projects that align with the mission of the College and are in compliance with University and funding guidelines and regulations. The position has responsibility for the quality of all activities as well as fiscal oversight, including seeking external funding and developing contracts that ensure the financial viability of programs.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in related field and five years of closely related professional experience.

  • Extensive knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
  • Extensive knowledge of Texas rules and regulations related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
  • In depth knowledge of learning outcomes.
  • Requires knowledge of best practices in assessment as it pertains to higher education and institutional effectiveness including the creation of outcomes, assessment methods and instruments, as well as data analysis, and utilization of reporting results.
  • Ability to plan and conceptualize and make sound business decisions.
  • Must exercise considerable independent and professional judgment in matters of significance.
  • Strong presentation, problem solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Strong planning and project management skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships.

Job Duties

  • Forecasts and develops sustainable programs and projects that support department, college and university missions and goals related to research, student professional development and community engagement.
  • Conceptualizes, plans, develops and secures funding for programs and projects consistent with research and education agenda.
  • Allocates resources to ensure that project/program deliverables occur consistent with parameters of each program/project funding requirements.
  • Develops methods and ensures utilization of evaluation/assessment data to determine effectiveness of program/projects.
  • Plans, assigns and supervises profession and support staff including hiring and selection, assigning work, performance evaluation, personnel and discipline actions, and scheduling/leave approval.
  • Manages and directs service programs and continuing education program including assessing, planning and organizing, implementing and evaluating the strategic and tactical activities and performance of programs and projects.
