The College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences Advising Office's mission is to teach, assist, and empower students to define, clarify and achieve academic and personal goals through professional, caring service.

Position Overview

This position is responsible for providing counseling to students by appraising their interests, aptitudes, and abilities to develop a career path and degree fit. This role typically provides supervision to lower level staff directly or on a project basis but may serve as an expert or point of escalation for more complex projects or issues. Counsels students on academic pursuits through the completion of degree program;

connects students with available resources for academic success and personal/professional development; researches and evaluates and delivers presentations on services provided. This position is responsible for creating and implementing programs related to student success and retention.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree and four years of experience in student affairs, student services, counseling, professional academic advising, or related experience.

  • Considerable knowledge of University policies and procedures related to functional area (or ability to rapidly assimilate).
