Applications Engineer

General Fasteners Company is looking to hire a full-time Applications Engineer. • An Applications Engineer will be tasked with solving application-related issues in the world of fasteners and assembly components.
• Act as a liaison between customers and the engineering team.
• Determine customers’ technical requirements, support sales staff, travel to customer sites, and maintain customer relationships.
• Analyze, theorize, develop, and deploy fastening strategies to help customers save money, improve designs, and solve fastening application problems.

• Associates Degree in Mechanical or Materials Science Engineering.
• 2+ years of experience developing fastening solutions or solving critical application issues in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with fasteners.

• Analyze product and/or equipment specifications and performance requirements.
• Recommend/assess designs to provide robust, cost-effective solutions.
• Prepare/coordinate testing and drawing services for customers.
• Compile and analyze operational, test, and research data to recommend performance standards for newly designed and/or existing products.
• Proactively support all customer and internal cost savings efforts.
• Participate in customer Value Analysis/Value Engineering events.
• Prepare reports for design and value analysis.
• Collaboratively work with and participate in the continuous improvement of our quality department and systems.
• Travel to our Engineering Center in Michigan and to our supply base as required.

• Experience with Microsoft Office:
  Outlook, Excel & Word.
• Possess a customer-focused attitude.
• Possess strong mechanical and technical aptitude.
• Strong Mechanical or Materials Engineering background.
• Ability to organize resources and establish priorities.
• Ability to gather data, compile information and prepare comprehensive reports.
• Ability to effectively present information to internal and external customers.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy while meeting deadlines.
• Must be self-directed and possess a high level of personal organization and drive.
• Possess excellent communication skills including verbal, written and interpersonal.
• Interact well with employees at all levels within the organization and be able to build and maintain positive working relationships.
• Willingness and ability to be flexible and adapt to changing job requirements.
