Lead Estimator - Substations

Primoris T&D provides construction, maintenance, and engineering of electric transmission, distribution, and substation infrastructure. Ancillary services include wireless telecommunication installation, environmental cleanup, project management, and storm restoration services.

• Lead the development of detailed cost estimates using InEIGHT Estimate (Hard Dollar) software.
• Analyze and understand project scope, drawings, specifications, and RFP documentation to determine labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
• Engage subcontractors early in the pursuit process, issue RFPs, and evaluate proposals using Best Value templates.
• Collaborate with scheduling leads and operations to define milestone dates, critical path, construction durations, and float, contributing to a functional schedule.
• Maintain rigorous document control practices across pursuit folders, including estimate files, subcontractor quotes, and review documentation.
• Conduct and actively participate in constructability reviews to evaluate project feasibility and execution strategies. Engage in quality assurance reviews to validate the accuracy, completeness, and reliability of estimates.
• Perform comprehensive risk analysis by identifying known and potential project risks, and maintain a detailed risk registry to document consequences, probabilities, mitigation strategies, and budget impacts, including targeted contingency planning.

• 5+ years of estimating experience in power delivery or related construction sectors with concentration in EPC.
• Proficiency in estimating software, Bluebeam, Excel, Microsoft Project, and PowerPoint.
• Strong understanding of construction means and methods for air‑insulated substations.
• Demonstrable experience with InEIGHT Estimate (Hard Dollar) is a huge plus.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills with internal and external stakeholders.
• Proven ability to establish, develop, and maintain subcontractor relationships.
