Field Service Engineer, ARC – Denton, TX
ESAB Corporation, a global leader in fabrication technology and gas control solutions, is looking for a Field Service Engineer to support its ARC network.
Responsibilities- Identify and assess the technical training needs of the ARC network across North America.
- Develop and deliver a comprehensive training curriculum, including in‑person and online courses.
- Manage the technical training budget against defined targets.
- Identify gaps and produce technical writing such as service and repair guides, manuals, and procedures.
- Provide troubleshooting and diagnostics support, analyze complex equipment issues, and develop repair strategies.
- Interact directly with ARC technical staff and end users, respond to escalations, and offer expert guidance on equipment operation and maintenance.
- Write and distribute technical reports on malfunctions, component deficiencies, and design deviations.
- Participate in quality improvement meetings and projects.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on customer‑owned machines when applicable.
- Communicate and troubleshoot with customers, engineers, technicians, and production personnel to resolve problems.
- Maintain accurate records of service issues, repairs, parts used, and other relevant information.
- Identify trends and develop best‑practice recommendations to improve repair performance.
- Drive ESAB brand values and philosophy through all training, support, and development activities.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations, and comply with industry safety standards.
- Manage spare parts orders, stocking requirements, and logistical functions to promote on‑time delivery and target service levels.
- Provide ad‑hoc on‑site support for key customers, including installation, troubleshooting, and repair.
- Associate degree in electronic engineering technology or 2–3 years of related experience (or equivalent education and experience).
- Prior experience with ESAB equipment is a plus.
- Exposure to high‑voltage systems (240V, 460V, and 575V three‑phase).
- Knowledge of high‑power converters is preferred.
- Experience with structured training methodologies and learning management platforms (e.g., Critical Path, ESAB University).
- Strong electrical and mechanical background with knowledge of equipment repair and troubleshooting.
- Hands‑on experience repairing welding and cutting equipment or equivalent.
- Effective problem‑solving and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools such as Microsoft Project and in Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to support the needs of and interact appropriately with cross‑functional personnel.
- Excellent customer‑relationship building skills and ability to work cross‑functionally and cross‑culturally.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Stationary position 50% of the time; include climbing stairs, walking, stooping, and standing.
- Must wear personal protective equipment when working or visiting manufacturing and plant locations.
- Constant computer usage and other office productivity equipment.
- May lift or move equipment weighing up to 50lbs and push or pull loads of up to 200lbs using provided safety tools.
- Travel required approximately 60% of the time; may be exposed to varying weather.
