Requisition Summary

Do you want to help shape Peterbilt’s future electric‑powered vehicles? The Zero Emissions Design team is looking for a Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) Engineer with interest in supporting innovative new technologies. Engineering projects may include new product development, current production design & support, field service & warranty reduction, and factory process improvements. Duties involve interfacing with Peterbilt and Kenworth Manufacturing, the PACCAR Technical Center, PACCAR Vehicle Electric Powertrain Team, Product Planning, Marketing & Sales, Management and suppliers to ensure the high‑quality development and execution of designs and products for the next generation of industry‑leading trucks.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead the development of design concepts; refine via analytical tools and prototyping; plan and execute validation activities; support pilot build events; launch product into full production.
  • Manage deliverables across multiple projects, providing guidance on the application of specific tools and processes.
  • Work in a collaborative small‑team environment to explore and evaluate advanced vehicle technologies.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to young engineers.
  • Maintain DFMEA and DVP tasks and deliverables.
  • Collaborate with multiple suppliers to aid successful integration and validation of electric powertrain components into PACCAR trucks.
  • Leverage internal product development processes and Six Sigma skills to ensure high‑quality results, manage progress and report updates.
  • Manage supplier activities related to design and manufacture of components.
  • Work closely with multiple PACCAR divisions.
  • Manage multiple priorities and goals simultaneously.
  • Support pilot builds at PACCAR truck factories.
  • Travel up to 15% may be required.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a similar field.
  • Five years of experience in a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business or engineering.
  • PE License (Professional Engineer).
  • Experience leading engineering projects and stakeholders.
  • Six Sigma training/experience desired;
    Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) preferred.
  • Knowledge and experience with Battery Electric Powertrains desired.
  • Familiarity and experience with medium and heavy‑duty commercial vehicles and technologies preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Creo Parametric, Solid Works or other similar CAD modeling software.
  • Familiarity with project‑management methods and tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks, adaptability to change, self‑starter.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills (verbal/written).
  • Applying standard engineering techniques with minimal supervision.
