Department Summary

The Financial Aid & Scholarships (FAS) Office is committed to helping students achieve their educational goals by providing effective and meaningful financial aid assistance. FAS is responsible for processing financial aid applications, administrating various financial aid programs, and providing financial aid counseling to students and their families.

Position Overview

This position will serve as the Associate Director of Financial Aid over the areas of federal, state, & private student educational loan administration, federal & state work study, and the Return of Title IV Funds process. The position will manage all functional and technical aspects, maintain compliance, and implement best business practices. It requires a high level of understanding of federal/state rules and regulations, institutional policies and procedures, and strategic goals.

The position reports to the Director of Financial Aid – Operations, supervises a team of 5‑6 FTE, and serves as a member of the FAS Leadership Team.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and six years of closely related professional experience.
Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities
  • Previous experience in the administration of financial aid programs.
  • Experience supervising and training staff in financial aid administration.
  • Ability to interpret federal, state, and institutional student aid policy.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with other teams, internal and external partners.
  • Excellent analytical and business process development skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and six years of related experience.
  • Experience with People Soft is preferred.
Required License/Registration/Certifications

As a condition of hire and continued employment, must be in good standing on all federal student aid and grant permission for the office to access the National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) to verify such standing.
