Deputy Sheriff - Transport - Sheriff

Deputy Sheriff performs law enforcement work to protect lives, property, and rights of citizens of the County. Duties include serving civil process papers, responding to service requests, patrolling the County, executing warrants, transporting prisoners, and assisting in jail operations.

• Enforce state and federal laws.
• Serve summons, writs, foreclosures, executions, restraining orders, and other civil process papers.
• Respond to complaint calls and patrol the County in an official vehicle.
• Serve warrants and make warrant arrests.
• Assist in transporting prisoners to courts and other facilities.
• Escort inmates to medical appointments, federal courts, and other venues.
• Maintain accurate documentation and reports in a timely manner.
• Provide regular and punctual attendance.
• Train other officers in weapons use and jail transportation techniques.

• High School diploma or GED.
• Valid driver's license with a Texas license within 90 days.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Certifications:
  
  Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE) Jailer license within 180 days of appointment. (Tex. Occ. Code ; 37 Tex. Admin. Code 217.27)
• Peace Officer certification in the State of Texas.
