Patient Benefit Representative

Location:

Schedule:

Monday-Friday, 8:30 AM-5:00 PM (30-minute lunch)

Pay Rate: $22.00-$26.00 per hour

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Patient Benefit Representative (P ) to join a healthcare revenue cycle team in Denton, TX. This role is responsible for verifying insurance coverage, ensuring authorizations are in place, reviewing patient account balances, and supporting front-desk operations as needed.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in insurance verification, patient financial services, and healthcare customer service. This position requires excellent communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the ability to provide compassionate support to patients while navigating complex insurance requirements.

Key Responsibilities Insurance Verification & Benefits Coordination

+ Verify patient insurance eligibility and coverage.

+ Review insurance cards and confirm active/effective coverage.

+ Ensure all required authorizations and referrals are obtained and attached to treatments or medications.

+ Review patient accounts for outstanding balances and payment obligations.

+ Manage and resolve hold bills and insurance-related account issues.

+ Retrieve and review patient eligibility information within internal systems.

Patient Service & Administrative Support

+ Provide exceptional customer service to patients regarding insurance and billing questions.

+ Assist with patient account inquiries and financial responsibilities.

+ Support front-desk operations when needed, including patient check-in and registration activities.

+ Maintain accurate documentation and records within applicable systems.

+ Work collaboratively with clinical, administrative, and revenue cycle teams.

Call Handling & Communication

+ Handle a limited volume of inbound and outbound patient calls.

+ Communicate professionally and empathetically regarding insurance coverage, balances, and account status.

+ Respond promptly to patient inquiries and concerns.

Required Qualifications

+ Minimum of 3 years of Patient Benefit Representative experience or related healthcare revenue cycle experience.

+

Experience with :

+ Insurance verification

+ PCP referrals

+ Prior authorizations

+ Claims follow-up

+ Collections and outstanding patient balances

+ Patient account management

+ Strong customer service background in a healthcare setting.

+ Patient-facing experience.

+ Experience handling inbound calls.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

+ Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.

Preferred Qualifications

+ Experience working with Athena and G2 systems.

+ Front desk or patient registration experience.

+ Healthcare billing or revenue cycle background .

+ High level of emotional intelligence and professionalism.

+ Ability to work independently while supporting a collaborative team environment.

Work Environment

+ On-site healthcare office environment.

+ Patient volume generally averages 5-10 patients per representative daily.

+ Limited phone activity, typically 5-7 conversations per day.
