Occupational Therapist

Job Summary

Full-time position, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm Monday-Friday with rotating weekends. The Occupational Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered care by managing the complete process of occupational therapeutic care for an assigned group of patients, in coordination with physicians and the patient care team. The therapist completes patient assessments and participates in developing and implementing individualized care plans, focusing on goal achievement, patient engagement, and positive patient experience.

• Provide evaluations and treatment interventions within the scope of practice established by law and professional code of ethics.
• Assess and evaluate therapeutic/rehabilitative/functional status.
• Participate in patient placement and in the development of the total plan of care.
• Provide purposeful and skilled interaction care.
• Use procedures and techniques to produce a change in condition/function consistent with the physician’s plan of care.
• Observe and report patient’s reaction to treatment and changes in patient’s condition.
• Communicate pertinent payor needs/requirements to physician, treatment team, patient and patient’s family in a timely manner.
• Prioritize caseload, determine daily staffing needs and coordinate assignments/handoffs.

• Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy.
• Licensed by the Texas State Board of Occupational Therapy examiners.
• Registered Occupational Therapist (ROT).
• Current BLS issued by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
• Minimum 1-2 years of acute-care experience, preferably in Cardiovascular ICU, Spine, Total Joint, or PCU level of care.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and time-management skills.
• Excellent customer-service skills.
