Job Description
Work in an environment that values and respects those served at the Denton State Supported Living Center. This role provides advanced habilitative and rehabilitative care for residents with developmental disabilities, coordinating and supervising services, implementing behavior plans, and ensuring a safe and positive living environment.
Essential Job FunctionsCoordinate habilitation, rehabilitation, behavior management, crisis intervention, and treatment programs; implement Active Treatment Daily Plans; assign staff in accordance with individual plans; supervise and provide training to DSPs; document care and progress; maintain safe and sanitary conditions; respond to emergencies and unusual incidents; participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings; perform Home Supervisor duties when absent; and drive a state-owned vehicle.
Knowledge,Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of individual care techniques, person-centered planning, electronic health records, and communication with individuals with developmental disabilities. Ability to read, write, speak English, make decisions, respond calmly in emergencies, demonstrate proper body mechanics, provide care and first aid, train and mentor staff, and work effectively as part of a team.
Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsValid Texas driver’s license required. Applicants with out-of-state licenses must submit a certified driving record. Preferred certifications: CPR, First Aid, Ukeru, and Safe Use of Restraint (SUR).
Initial Screening Criteria- One (1) year experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
- Experience implementing behavior programs or assisting people with intellectual developmental disabilities with activities of daily living.
- Experience completing documentation or writing reports.
- Two (2) years of experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP).
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Experience leading or supervising others.
Applicants must pass a fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks. Males aged 18–25 must register with Selective Service. Random drug testing applies. Flexibility for overtime, extended hours, weekends, and holidays is required. All applicants must be at least 18 years old.
