Position Overview

The UNT Kristin Farmer Autism Center (KFAC) is seeking a full‑time Behavior Technician to join our dedicated team in providing exceptional clinical services to young children on the autism spectrum. The primary responsibility of the Behavior Technician will be to provide direct intervention and instructional programs for 5‑7 young children with autism, utilizing evidence‑based interventions. The position will be supervised by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).

The Behavior Technician is responsible for collecting data, conducting assessments, implementing skill acquisition and behavior reduction procedures, and documenting and reporting outcomes. This position is also responsible for providing peer‑support to part‑time Behavior Technicians, typically undergraduate and graduate students in related degree programs at UNT.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma/GED equivalent; one year of experience working with individuals with disabilities; basic understanding of behavior analytic principles and procedures; knowledge of evidence‑based practices.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic understanding of autism spectrum disorders and evidence‑based practices.
  • Ability to work with clients with autism spectrum disorders.
  • Ability to be patient, flexible, versatile, and cope with stressful situations.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Preferred Qualifications

Active Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) credential.

Job Duties
  • Models core organization beliefs, values, and expectations.
  • Directly implements individualized skill building and behavior support plans developed by BCBA.
  • Accurately collects, records, and graphs child data, and reports concerns regarding child’s progress to supervisor.
  • Maintains developmentally appropriate, neat, clean, and orderly classrooms and treatment rooms.
  • Assists in the development of daily schedules, and maintains all necessary staff and client spreadsheets including schedules, training, availability, contact information, role, etc.
  • Effectively addresses and resolves problems related to scheduled and unscheduled client and staff absences.
  • Maintains awareness of individual child needs, staff skills, and space utilization to assist in decision‑making.
  • Effectively uses technology to maintain effective operations ensuring staff and child activities are recorded and documented.
  • Attends and participates in staff meetings, trainings, and special events as required.
  • Follows UNT and departmental policies and procedures, legal requirements, verbal/written directives, and Professional Codes of Ethics and Standards.
Physical Requirements
  • Communicating with others to exchange information.
  • Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
Environmental Hazards
  • No adverse environmental conditions expected.
Work Schedule

Monday‑Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
