The Human Resources Manager provides tactical and strategic consulting on people/organization development strategies and administrative operations in support of business objectives. Performs human resources related functions supporting all departmental groups. Oversees day to day administrative functions of the organization.

Partners with the leadership team to understand and execute the organization’s human resource and talent strategy particularly as it relates to current and future talent needs, recruiting, retention, and succession planning. Manages job description database.

  • Provides day-to-day coaching to leadership on a variety of actions including: employee relations, policy creation (interpretation and application), talent management, development and organizational design.
  • Designs and drives training program and initiatives for company. Provides training to and assists with the professional development of management team members.
  • Serves as a representative on behalf of SPAN/MOW at community events, meetings, and functions as directed by the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Actively participates in annual budget planning/labor forecasting process with business partners.
  • Assists hiring managers with talent acquisition. Includes participation in recruitment campaigns, job fairs, and internship programs. Prescreens candidate applications and resumes for required skills, experience and knowledge to fit position requirements. Makes referrals to hiring manager ensuring efficient turn-around activity. Facilitates process of candidate selection, interviewing, job offer, background check and candidate onboarding details.
  • Leverages online recruiting resources, employee referrals, network referrals, etc. to identify and recruit “best in class” talent.
  • Co-facilitates New Employee Orientation (NEO) program for new hires.
  • Responsible for employment related policy implementation, updates, and distribution.
  • Provides support and guidance to management and other staff when complex, specialized, and sensitive questions and issues arise; may be required to administer and execute routine tasks in delicate circumstances such as providing reasonable accommodations, investigating allegations of wrongdoing, and terminations.
  • Leads and/or supports annual human resources cycle deliverables including performance appraisal management; merit and bonus awards, benefits shop, overall plan design and open/ongoing enrollment, etc.
  • Drives employee engagement and appreciation programs.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Oversees administration of FMLA, Workers Compensation, Unemployment Claims and other government employment related programs.
  • Partners with Safety and Compliance Manager to administer the drug and safety programs.
  • Partners with the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer in strategic planning for short-and long-term financial stability and growth of the organization.
  • Oversees the business insurance programs for the organization and serves as the liaison to the insurance companies.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Education/

Experience:

Bachelor’s degree. Five or more years human resources experience at the professional or supervisory level or two or more years of human resources experience and advanced degree in human resources or related field. PHR or SHRM-CP required. Previous experience coaching employees and management through complex, difficult issues. Multi-site/field employee support and volunteer experience a plus. Non-profit experience a plus.
