• Clean and sanitize building facilities, including floors (sweeps, mops, scrubs, strips, waxes, buffs), carpets, and other surfaces.
• Dust furniture, walls, ceilings, windows, woodwork, and other building surfaces; clean restrooms, baths, fixtures, and drinking fountains.
• Remove trash and waste, manage recycling, and transport materials as scheduled.
• Unlock building doors as required for functions and programs; move furniture for cleaning purposes.
• Observe safety and security precautions appropriate to the work performed.
• Communicate with custodial supervisors daily and report maintenance needs or safety issues.
• Follow departmental cleaning standards provided by supervisory leadership.

There are no minimum education or experience requirements for this role. Employees may be responsible for accessing critical organizational infrastructure and must maintain security and integrity related to this role.

• Ability to follow oral and written instructions; ability to read and understand labels on chemicals.
• Ability to apply mathematical concepts for tasks such as measuring and mixing chemicals.
• Sufficient knowledge of cleaning methods and proper use of cleaning equipment.
• Ability to operate vacuum cleaners, floor waxers, floor buffers, and other cleaning equipment.
• Physical ability to perform standing, stooping, lifting of materials and equipment; ability to move around work sites.
• Ability to recognize and report maintenance needs in buildings; knowledge of safety and security precautions.
