The Unit Director performs highly complex managerial work administering and overseeing the daily operations, programming and activities of a cluster of homes at the designated State Supported Living Center (SSLC). The director manages and coordinates residential services to ensure active treatment, health, safety and the pursuit of personal goals for the individuals residing in the unit, overseeing all residential services/direct support staff and ensuring integration of psychology/behavioral services, active treatment/vocational services, nursing, medical, and qualified intellectual disabilities services.

The director ensures structure, staffing, and operations conform with nationally accepted best practices, the Settlement Agreement, and all state and federal laws. Establishes goals & objectives, develops strategic plans, and prioritizes standards and processes. Handles crisis/emergency situations, participates in meetings, and works under limited supervision of the ADOP or DRS. For unit model sites, oversees programming and treatment functions, hiring, scheduling, and staffing.

Serves as Administrator on Duty in rotation and is on‑call as needed.

Attends work regularly, works specific shift schedules or rotating schedules, extended shift and/or overtime per policy. Provides on‑call status on rotating schedule. Develops strategic plans, implements objectives toward meeting goals, and utilizes data‑driven strategies for improvement. Manages day‑to‑day activities ensuring 24/7 programming. Provides guidance to the interdisciplinary team (IDT) and collaborates with department leads. Ensures staff are free from harm, maintains presence on the home, and resolves crisis situations.

Provides leadership, assigns and supervises staff activities, and coordinates services from behavioral health, QIDP, and other professionals. Coordinates policy and procedure implementation, ensures staff training, evaluates compliance, and communicates problems to leadership.
