Requisition Summary
This position will assist the Safety Manager in the development and implementation of Peterbilt's and Pac Lease's safety and health programs to include accident prevention, safety training, hazardous materials management, ergonomics, Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). requirements, and the Plant Emergency Team. The incumbent will assist with the division’s safety and occupational health administrative controls to align with corporate expectations and ensure the division’s safety compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local agencies.
The position will also assist and manage the safety department resources throughout the division.
Core
Hours:
Monday – Friday 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM. Comes with an 8% shift differential.
- Collaborate with leadership to develop a culture that promotes behavior-based safety in both operations and office environments.
- Manage a comprehensive environmental, health, and safety program including prevention, investigation, and recording of incidents and related costs. Track and measure results and recommend appropriate actions.
- Manage the performance and development of Peterbilt's safety team.
- Maintain knowledge of and ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws, including records retention and reporting requirements.
- Develop effective loss control goals and procedures for environmental, health, and safety.
- Partner with operations to identify and mitigate risks.
- Manage the safety training program for both operations and office staff.
- Coordinate with OSHA inspectors, fire department inspectors, PACCAR insurance carriers, and local facilities departments.
- Travel up to 15% of the time.
- Bachelor's degree in safety or a related field.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience.
- Work schedule Monday – Friday 4:30 PM – 1:00 AM.
- Master’s degree in an applicable field.
- ISO 14001 / ISO 18001 experience and/or lead auditor training.
- Professional certification in safety, industrial hygiene, or hazardous materials.
- Five years of closely related industrial safety experience.
- Working knowledge of OSHA and NFPA laws as well as local regulatory agencies.
- Excellent written, verbal, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively at various levels within the organization.
- Mechanical aptitude with an understanding of heavy manufacturing environments and equipment.
- Organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Ability to influence a safety behavior-based culture.
