We are looking for a hands‑on, high‑energy Operations Manager to lead a small team in a fast growing logistics company. In this role, you will bridge the gap between strategy and execution, directly managing a team of coordinators and tracking specialists. You will ensure that customer shipments are picked up and delivered flawlessly, carrier capacity is consistently secured at optimal rates, and compliance standard operating procedures (SOPs) are strictly followed.
QualificationsExperience Required
- 3+ years of experience in freight brokerage operations, with at least 1–2 years in a supervisory or team‑lead role.
- Expert negotiation skills, deep understanding of market‑rate fluctuations, and strong crisis‑management abilities.
- Proficiency with mainstream brokerage TMS, digital freight marketplaces, and load boards.
- Detail‑oriented, fast‑paced, resilient under pressure, and skilled at motivating and directing a team.
- Must have experience with pricing truckload costs on a periodic and spot market basis.
- Proven track record of success in operations management, including experience with carrier relations, dispatching and routing.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team to achieve exceptional results.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively communicate with clients, carriers, and team members at all levels.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to identify and resolve complex operational issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Teams, Outlook, etc.
- Bachelor's degree in Business Management, Logistics or Analytics is preferred, but not required.
- A customer‑centric mindset, with a strong commitment to delivering the highest level of service to our clients and carriers.
- Directly oversee daily track‑and‑trace, dispatching, and carrier sales activities.
- Train, coach, and evaluate the performance of operational team members to hit load‑volume and margin targets.
- Ensure maximum compliance with tracking tools and minimize service failures or accessorial risks (detention, layovers).
- Assist the team in sourcing capacity for difficult, high‑volume lanes or hot shipments.
- Act as the first line of escalation for operational or carrier service issues within your team.
- Lead and inspire a high‑performing team of 2-4 Logistics Coordinators and Dispatchers, cultivating a culture of excellence and collaboration.
- Design and implement processes targeted to boost operational efficiency and create a customer experience that sets the industry ablaze.
- Collaborate with carrier sales and pricing to cost RFPs (spot and contractual) with precision and accuracy, ensuring profitability and competitive advantage.
- Forge strategic alliances with key carrier partners, positioning Ship Nova for success and amplifying our ability to deliver on our commitments.
- Mentor and guide new team members, nurturing their talent and helping them flourish in the logistics arena.
- Efficiently coordinate a diverse array of transportation modes for our esteemed accounts, ensuring smooth sailing from origin to destination.
