General Manager – Operations
The General Manager of Operations is a highly visible leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operations, compliance, and financial results for a designated location. The GM serves as the primary customer interface for leadership decisions regarding proposal approval and contract negotiations and champions continuous improvement activities, LEAN practices, supply‑chain analysis, Six Sigma initiatives, ISO activities, and marketing plans.
Responsibilities- Develop and enforce system procedures to manage operations, equipment, and products safely and profitably in line with company policies.
- Lead operations to meet productivity and service goals and comply with client operating agreements.
- Drive continuous‑improvement efforts and set related performance goals.
- Develop productive business relationships with vendors, suppliers, and partners; ensure OSHA and all federal and state compliance.
- Set service‑level standards and maintain a system of controls to meet cost, revenue, and profit targets.
- Partner with senior leadership to prepare the annual operating budget and recommend financial plans.
- Ensure overall safety and security of the operation; audit for safety, security, and quality compliance.
- Develop and mentor the team, supporting succession planning and management development activities.
- Act as the site‑level champion of client relationship management and coordinate business reviews.
- Plan and sanction capital requests for automation/technology that support client service.
- Maintain facility and equipment standards, including material‑handling equipment training and technology updates.
- High‑school diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Minimum 7 years experience in logistics, distribution or supply‑chain operations; at least 5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience with Lean/continuous‑improvement, Six Sigma, ISO and budgeting in an operations‑management capacity.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and knowledge of warehouse management systems.
- Strong communication, organizational, leadership, supervision, and planning skills.
- Advanced accounting and financial proficiency, including P&L management and budget preparation.
- Ability to work in varying temperature conditions and adapt to change in a fast‑paced environment.
Base pay range: $ – $ annual, based on experience and location.
