Job Summary
Spot welders assemble dryer panel vane units by spot-welding vane pockets to vane bodies. Their duties include checking that items are fully assembled, ensuring safety protocols are followed, and troubleshooting any issues found during production.
Your Responsibilities Will Be:- Successfully complete initial and on-going job training programs in work functions, lean manufacturing and other topics as presented by the company.
- Maintain compliance with Engineering Documentation notes above the minimum threshold established, and from time to time revised by the company for the position.
- Read and interpret fabrication drawings and/or work order specifications, ensure appropriate materials are allocated for the process, and prepare machine for operation to include, but not limited to:
- Programming the machine according to qualified procedures.
- Setting stop/guides to appropriate specifications.
- Positioning and securing workpiece on the machine.
- Designing correct tip size by using pneumatic tools, filing tools, etc., thus ensuring specific weld tolerances.
- Changing out necessary dyes, stamps, jigs, etc. to proper size as specified by blueprint/work order.
- Starting the machine and performing spot weld operation; performing machine maintenance, as appropriate.
- Measuring/inspecting completed work pieces giving special attention to pocket gaps and specified variances; conducting shear testing to verify weld quality.
- Communicate to supervisor/lead and co-workers all sub-standard material, drawings, parts or other conditions that do not meet company quality standards; uphold the highest quality standards.
- Adhere to all safety policies and procedures in accordance with guidelines established by the Company/OSHA; pursue safety initiatives in support of the Company’s vision of "zero accidents"; maintain a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Must wear all applicable safety equipment which includes safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots.
- Allocate time efficiently and effectively keeping track of critical information, schedules, and deadlines.
- Ensure daily reporting, as well as any other general correspondence, is communicated accurately, concisely, and in a form appropriate to the target audience.
- Understand and comply with all company policies and procedures as well as additional legal regulatory requirements.
- Perform other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
- A High School diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job.
- Knowledgeable in manufacturing safety protocols and regulations.
- At least 2+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Able to use and understand measurements and using tape measurement tools is preferred.
- Standing and walking for long periods, often throughout an entire shift.
- Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, and climbing.
- Reaching with hands and arms and using common hand tools or warehouse equipment.
- Regularly lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling objects typically up to 50 pounds, and occasionally heavier items.
- The job is usually performed in a warehouse setting, which may involve exposure to varying temperatures.
- Must be alert to warehouse hazards, such as forklift traffic and stacked products.
- Compliance with company attendance standard. Work hours may vary during peak production cycles.
