Department Summary
The G. Brint Ryan College of Business is the choice of nearly 9,000 students, making it one of the largest business schools in the nation. Position Overview
This role is the operational engine of the Murphy Center's student‑facing programs. The Assistant Director manages all aspects of pitch competitions, drives marketing and outreach to maximize participation, and builds the pipeline from classroom to competition to accelerator. A key performance objective is growing the Innovate UNT and Breakthrough Ventures competitions to $100,000+ in total prize money by Year 3 while embedding competition requirements into select courses across campus.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Higher Education, Psychology, Business, Data Science and four years of professional related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Knowledge,
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of event planning and management, including vendor coordination, logistics, on‑site execution, digital marketing channels, including social media, email campaigns, and content creation
- Knowledge of entrepreneurship competition formats (pitch competitions, hackathons, pre‑seed challenges)
- Able to build and execute marketing strategies with measurable participation targets, including maintaining participant databases and conversion from competition to accelerator
- Able to manage prize pools, and sponsor recognition in competition contexts
- Skilled in developing and managing relationships with university stakeholders
- An organizer that manages multiple concurrent projects and deadlines
- Can identify high‑potential founders and connect them to appropriate next‑stage resources
