Position Summary

Plans, coordinates and provides total nursing care for patients and provides supervision and guidance to clinical staff members. Scope of work may be modified by state specific rules under the Nurse Practice Act.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement infection control policies and procedures
  • Conduct regular assessments of the facility to identify and mitigate potential infection risks
  • Train staff on proper infection control techniques and protocols
  • Monitor and report on the incidence and trends of infections
  • Investigate and respond to reports of infections
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to develop and implement infection control programs
  • Stay up-to-date with current infection control practices and regulation
  • Supervises, directs and evaluates UMs, LNs, CNAs and UCs
  • Administers medications, starts IVs and performs treatments for assigned residents, and documents that treatment as required by Pure Health, and local, state and federal rules and regulations
  • Participates in orientation, training and in-servicing of team members
  • Assists physicians with special tests and procedures within the scope of state specified Nursing Practice Act
  • Ensures that supplies are utilized economically and that equipment is clean and maintained in a safe manner
  • Reports and records pertinent observations and reactions regarding residents
  • Coordinates nursing care of residents when scheduled for therapy or procedures by other departments
  • Assists with or institutes emergency measures for sudden adverse developments in residents
  • Supervises team, which includes scheduling and directing the nursing staff to extent permitted by state practice act
  • Attends and participates in in-service training

    • Manages as if it were his/her own business, keeps up to date with best practices and new developments. Makes informed decisions within the scope of responsibility
    • Takes responsibility for his/her own training and development; follows up and integrates training when appropriate
    • Listens; concentrates on information presented; takes action
    • Observes early signs of changing conditions; responds effectively
    • Ensures new employees are fully trained on all aspects of the job
    • Strong knowledge of infection control regulations and standards
    • Certification in Infection Control (CIC) or willing to obtain within the first 30 days of employment
