Travel RN - Trauma Stepdown
Position is for a Travel RN in a Trauma Stepdown unit. The unit consists of 25 beds with 44 FTEs. The staff ratio includes 1 charge nurse, 6 RNs, 3 techs, and 1 secretary during day shifts. Night shift has a similar staffing pattern. Patient Ratios are 1:4, with a 1:5 maximum for stepdown cases. The unit specializes in care for patients requiring acute surgical intervention or post-operative care.
This includes trauma surgery, bariatric surgery, vascular surgery, and other surgeries. Patients with neurological diagnoses, such as CVA, TIA, and TBI, are also treated. The unit cares for patients post-cardiac procedures, alcohol withdrawal, and those with chest pain or respiratory distress. Common treatments include managing various IV drips for cardiac care and respiratory conditions. The ideal candidate must be a team player, adaptable to a changing environment, and possess good communication skills.
Additional unit guidelines include vital signs monitoring every 4 hours and telemetry monitoring. This is a Level 2 trauma center with the majority of inpatients coming from the emergency department.
