The Landscape Project Manager will service areas comprised of Denton County properties, including flower beds, turf areas, sidewalks, stairs, patios, landings, drives, fields, and lots. This position will provide landscape maintenance, care, design, and other associated services. It requires multifaceted and high skill levels in landscaping and works with latitude to help create an exterior Denton County environment that promotes safety, health, and embraces the county beautification initiative for all properties.
Manages grounds maintenance contractual services for Denton County. Oversees all contractors to ensure they fulfill contract specifications and that services are delivered on schedule. Monitors work quality and progress of contractor work. Inspects all grounds and areas, reports findings, and works with vendors and the Director of Public Facilities to resolve issues as they arise.
Oversees general upkeep and care of county grounds including lawns, trees, shrubs, beds, etc.; ensures proactive activities that prevent plant damage or disease.
Communicates daily with contractors, elected officials/department heads, architects, and the Director of Public Works.
Helps prepare contract specifications and participates in the bid process; completes the quarterly review surveys for Purchasing.
Meets with architects, elected officials, department heads, and the Director of Public Works about future landscape design for new buildings. Uses expertise and knowledge to provide input on layout and design.
Attends regular training to stay current on best horticultural practices, including plant material, soil types, irrigation systems, pest control, and landscape construction methods.
Regular and punctual attendance is required.
Performs other related duties as required.
Associates degree in horticulture, arboriculture, landscape architecture, agriculture, or related field and a minimum of seven years of experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
Job requires extensive knowledge and understanding of plant material, soil types, irrigation systems, pest control, and landscape management.
Possession of a valid driver’s license is required. Must be able to obtain a State of Texas driver’s license within 90 days of employment.
Must be able to pass a State Criminal History background check.
