Description
The General Landscaper will assist in maintaining the landscaping and overall appearance at all Denton County buildings and locations. This position involves planting, digging, pulling weeds, and trimming trees and shrubs.
Responsibilities- Engage horticultural best practices to manage the cultivation of landscaping and grounds at all County buildings.
- Inspect locations after storms and high winds for damage to trees and determine replacement needs.
- Monitor grounds weekly for insects, diseases, and irrigation damage.
- Inspect quality of landscape purchases (sod, grass, flowers, trees) before installation.
- Maintain landscaping equipment and materials.
- Assist with vendor and crew oversight when the Landscape Project Manager is unavailable.
- Report any problems or issues to the Project Landscape Manager.
- Inspect and remove debris from ground daily; clear parking lot and sidewalk debris with a backpack blower.
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance.
- High School diploma or GED required.
- Minimum three (3) years of related experience.
- Valid driver’s license; must obtain a State of Texas driver’s license within 90 days.
- Physical ability to perform field work, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
- Good communication skills and ability to follow written instructions.
