Quality Assurance Manager

Overview

The Quality Assurance Manager ensures the quality of product and services provided by the company. This position is responsible for managing quality assurance programs and the quality assurance department, monitoring and completing written reports, performing audits, and completing product testing.

• Ensure the quality of product and services by testing product, performing audits of product lines, placing defective products on hold, and taking corrective action.
• Manage quality assurance programs and department by upholding program expectations and standards, scheduling personnel and shipments.
• Act as primary SQF practitioner, responsible for food safety and validating that SQF programs are in place and enforced.
• Administer the department’s budget to ensure proper allocation of resources.
• Supervise direct reports and oversee sanitation programs.
• Handle customer complaints, communicate holds and discrepancies with supervisors and other departments.
• Maintain bill of materials, hold logs, and complete weekly and monthly reports.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in a science field, preferably food science.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Minimum of three (3) years of quality assurance experience.
• Minimum of five (5) years of management experience.
• Prefer experience in a bakery/dry‑mixing, frozen dough and baked goods production environment.
• Preferred knowledge of global quality standards such as SQF/BRC.
• Bilingual and/or SQF Practitioner preferred.

• Excellent communication and coaching skills.
• Detail oriented and organized.
• Strong background in sanitation principles and practices.
• Proficient computer skills in spreadsheets, databases and word processing.
• Excellent technical knowledge of equipment, products and processes.
• Self‑motivated, results orientated with strong personal skills.
• Strong background in HACCP, GMP, AIB and SPC.
• Hands‑on work ethic and ability to work under physical demands.

• Responsible for associates that report to the Quality Assurance and Quality Control departments.
• Monitor associate performance, provide input on hiring, disciplinary actions, work objectives, and realign associates as needed.

• Daily exposure to dirt, dust, fumes, darkness and/or noise.
• Seasonal exposure to extreme temperatures, wetness and humidity.
• Physical risks including work around mechanical equipment, forklifts, chemical hazards and electrical hazards.
• Ability to stand at the will‑call window, sit frequently at a desk, walk around the office and plant, and carry packages up to 50 pounds.

Salary range for this role: $89,026.00 – $. Actual compensation may vary based on job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience, as well as geographic location.
