Department Summary

The Postdoctoral Research Associate hired in this position will join the Department of Biological Sciences and Bio Discovery Institute (BDI). The Department of Biological Sciences ((Use the "Apply for this Job" box below).) is one of four departments in the College of Science. Our faculty is a community of scholars dedicated to teaching and research in the life and environmental sciences. We measure our success by the success of our students and the quality of our intellectual contributions to society.

Our alumni include many distinguished researchers and university professors who are dedicated to high-quality teaching and research. The BDI () was established in 2016 as an Institute of Research Excellence at the UNT under the Division of Research and Innovation. The BDI brings together researchers across biology, chemistry, engineering, and data science to accelerate discovery in the life sciences. Through interdisciplinary collaboration and shared research infrastructure, BDI drives innovation that supports health, food security, and energy solutions.

Position Overview

The Horn Laboratory in The Bio Discovery Institute and Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas is seeking to hire a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Associate to join our team. Our lab broadly focuses on characterizing molecular processes and engineering lipid-based bioproducts in plant systems. This position will investigate the role of lipid remodeling in cotton stress and recovery resilience.

This research will advance both fundamental insights into cotton physiology and biochemistry as well as contributing to potential applications in cotton breeding and molecular engineering.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in plant biology, biochemistry, chemistry, or a related field.
  • Peer-reviewed publications in plant biochemistry.
  • Prior research experience in lipids, redox biochemistry, proteomics, and plant molecular biology.
  • Ability to design and conduct experiments both independently and collaboratively as needed.

  • Experience with stress phenotyping in cotton and/or other crop systems.
