Summary

The individuals who perform this job provide extraordinary shopping experiences to our guests and stock merchandise.

Responsibilities
  • Know and actively demonstrate our Company Mission Statement and Core Values daily.
  • Maintain uniform standards, as detailed in the Employee Manual, for all worked hours.
  • Know and actively demonstrate superior product knowledge.
  • Greet guests and engage in conversation with a smile and a helpful demeanor, remembering that the guest always comes first.
  • Recommend merchandise based on guests’ needs or desires, with a focus on our in‑house brands.
  • Answer guests’ questions concerning price and use of merchandise.
  • Create client relationships with regular guests.
  • Carry product to register counters and assist guests as required.
  • Run a cash register as business dictates.
  • Receive merchandise as business dictates.
  • Prepare promotional events as necessary.
  • Set up displays or arrange merchandise on floor stacks, counters, or tables to promote sales.
  • Front merchandise and rotate stock for freshness and shelf readiness.
  • Maintain a neat and orderly sales floor and back stock.
  • Clean shelves, bottles, aisles, and tables; look for improperly stocked product to avoid trips and falls.
  • Maintain fresh and readable price tags on all products.
  • Provide feedback to management regarding fast or slow‑moving product, stock levels, out of stocks, and department needs.
  • Prepare sales floor and storage areas for inventory and assist in the inventory process if needed.
  • Use and maintain computers and RF scanner equipment properly.
  • Seek to continually improve related skills and knowledge to contribute to profitability and productivity.
  • Avoid conversations with coworkers when guests are present.
  • Limit use of personal cell phone to work‑related activities only while on the sales floor.
  • Carry out directives of management efficiently.
  • Fulfill responsibilities with care and attention to detail.
  • Practice teamwork and cooperation with others.
  • Possess time‑management skills and be able to prioritize tasks.
  • Manage stress in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Work in accordance with all safety regulations of Specs Family Partners and OSHA.
  • Stand, lift, carry, walk, bend, and reach products routinely weighing up to 50 pounds or more; occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds using proper lifting techniques and tools.
  • Other projects and tasks assigned by management.
  • Attend and maintain timeliness; this is not a remote sales job.
  • Clean the bathroom as part of the schedule.
  • Qualifications
    • Minimum age 21.
    • Preferred: retail sales experience and high school diploma or GED; strong product knowledge is a plus.
    • Ability to read, comprehend, and write simple instructions or memos; communicate with coworkers and guests.
    • Basic mathematical skills: add, subtract, multiply, divide entire numbers, fractions, and decimals; calculate discounts and percentages.
    • Friendly, helpful, and outgoing demeanor; reliable, responsible, and self‑starter.
    • Good communication and teamwork skills.
    • Availability to work any shift on Friday or Saturday and at least 80% of all shifts each week.
    • Valid TABC Beverage Sellers Permit; may need a Food Handlers Permit. The TABC course is paid by the company and the cost is deducted from the paycheck.
    • Physical ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50pounds regularly and up to 100pounds occasionally, and push or pull 50–100pounds regularly.
    • Vision: close, distance, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
    Hours

    Full‑time:
    Typically 35 hours per week, with scheduling determined by business needs. Part‑time:
    Up to 25 hours per week.

    Physical Demands

    Regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, lifting, and climbing. Ability to lift or move up to 50pounds regularly and up to 100pounds occasionally, using proper techniques and tools. Push or pull between 50–100pounds regularly.

    Work Environment

    Fun, positive environment with moderate noise levels; may be exposed to outside weather conditions while serving guests.
