Position OverviewWork with graduate students to establish the 3‑omega experiment to measure thermal conductivity of thin films.
Minimum QualificationsPh.D. in Physics or related field.
Preferred QualificationsPh.D. with industry experience in infrared sensors.
Required Licenses / CertificationsValid Texas Driver’s License.
Job Duties- Design the experimental setup for thermal conductivity measurements using the 3‑omega technique.
- Assess the performance of the lock‑in amplifier and suggest modifications to the experimental set up to enable high‑frequency range measurements.
- Design heater pads on selected substrates, optimizing geometry for radial heat flow and estimating thermal penetration depth.
- Review literature to obtain appropriate equations for measuring thermal conductivity.
- Compare measured values with standards for SiO₂, quartz, Si, TiN.
- Communicate with others to exchange information.
- Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds.
- Moving in various positions to perform tasks in tight and confined spaces.
- Sitting or standing for extended periods.
- Moving between work sites.
- Operating machinery and/or power tools.
- Performing repetitive motions involving wrists, hands, or fingers.

Work ScheduleMonday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
