The state supported living centers serve people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who are medically fragile or who have behavioral problems. The centers provide campus-based direct services and supports at 13 centers located throughout the state.

Job Responsibilities

Perform advanced (senior level) work in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and circuits at the facility. Install and repair electrical systems, circuits, apparatus, and electrical components of machinery and equipment. Inspect, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment, lighting, and power circuits. Coordinate electrical repairs performed by others. Advise others on electrical issues when planning maintenance projects. Participate in planning long-range electrical maintenance programs as part of the maintenance team.

Maintain and renovate electrical services. Process paperwork related to work orders, projects, and material requisitions. Assign work to others qualified to perform the work. Train, coordinate, and lead the work of others in the maintenance department on projects involving electrical work. Maintain and oversee records. Work under limited supervision of the plant manager, assistant plant manager (or other appropriate supervisor depending on facility structure), with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Attends work on a regular basis and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or, at times, even a rotating schedule, extended shift and/or overtime in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. May serve in an on-call status on a rotating schedule as required to meet operational needs of the facility.

  • Anticipates and recognizes failures in the operation of the equipment. Correctly identifies the cause of the system or equipment failure and identifies the necessary corrective action. Takes proactive action to prevent failures. (20%)
  • Acts as a lead worker electrical maintenance or repair projects. Collaborate with maintenance supervisors to establish work schedules and assign appropriate staff. Train employees on electrical-related equipment, procedures, and safety practices. Maintain training records. Delegate electrical work to those qualified to perform it and oversees their work. (15%)
