Commercial Diesel Technician- Custom Vehicle Solutions

The Vehicle Modification Technician 2 is responsible for inspection, layout, fabrication, and installation of new or modified Class 2-8 truck components. Responsibilities also include reconditioning and modification of components for current or revised applications, documenting procedures, creating and updating bills of materials, and providing training to employees.

• Install, modify, repair, and inspect Class 2-8 trucks, including chassis, engine, driveline, axles, steering, cooling system, cab, body, and mounting.
• Work with vehicle hydraulic pumps, motors, and piping, including installation and testing of wet kits.
• Install and inspect vehicle compressed air systems, including braking, fail‑safe systems, lines, and reservoirs.
• Work with vehicle control, starting, charging, lighting systems, and circuits; diagnose chassis, brake, engine, and drivetrain issues.
• Fit and install steel and aluminum panels, accessories, and fenders using shears, snips, cutoff tools, rivets, and fasteners with minimal guidance.
• Install compressed natural gas fuel systems.
• Support preparation processes for welding by others.

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• 2 years of related experience and/or training; equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
• Texas Railroad Commission CNG certification preferred.
• Valid Commercial Driver's License preferred.
• Must be insurable.

• Ability to follow instructions and avoid deviations or undocumented variations to design.
• Document work performed accurately and timely.
• Demonstrate high proficiency and cost‑effectiveness to minimize re‑work and delays.
• Tag all warranty parts and returns to warranty clerk.
• Demonstrate positive corporate citizenship and the Rush Driving Principles.

Minimum Pay Rate: USD $20.00/Hr.

Maximum Pay Rate: USD $40.00/Hr.
