The Programmer position is an entry‑level technical role in the Finance Information Systems Team. The role maintains stability and functionality of the People Soft Financials environment through routine development and support of system enhancements.
Responsibilities- Assist in maintenance of People Soft Finance applications, performing routine programming tasks and applying updates.
- Develop and modify application code for enhancements and bug fixes using approved tools and standards.
- Support system testing and troubleshooting, documenting findings, and implementing approved solutions.
- Assist with scheduled upgrades and patches under guidance of senior team members to ensure compliance.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for assigned tasks, including code changes and process workflows.
- Provide initial end‑user support for People Soft Finance‑related inquiries and escalate complex issues to senior staff as needed.
- Track and update task status in the Service Management System.
- Participate in the scheduled On‑Call Support Rotation.
- Accurately record time for assigned projects and tasks.
- Bachelor’s degree or four years of related experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of the methods and equipment used in electronic data processing.
- Skill in writing programs for computer applications.
- Ability to analyze problems and develop solutions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, collaborating effectively with business users and IT teams.
- Strong SQL skills using Oracle or another major relational database platform.
- Introductory programming knowledge in languages such as C++, Java, or People Code.
- Exposure to ERP systems such as People Soft, Workday, SAP, Banner, or similar applications.
- Familiarity with Finance business processes such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Budgets, Billing, or Asset Management.
- Coursework or practical experience in Accounting, Procurement, Financial Operations, or other business administration functions.
- Experience in a Higher Education environment or other large, complex organizations.
- Exposure to tools or concepts such as People Soft Query, SQL Developer, data validation, Agile methodologies, or system testing.
Communicating with others to exchange information.
Work ScheduleGenerally, Monday through Friday, 8am–5pm;
Hybrid.
