Salary Range: $3,047.58 - $4,149.83 per month

Shift: Day (First 5% travel, full-time, non-exempt)

The Vehicle Driver I operates and maintains motor vehicles on location, transporting cargo and passengers for short and long‑distance trips. The driver supports the food service team by delivering food carts, ensuring sanitation requirements, and may perform light food service duties when short‑staffed. The role is a frontline position with responsibilities for vehicle maintenance, record keeping, and safety compliance.

• Operate vans, trucks, trailers, and delivery trailers as required.
• Transport passengers, cargo, food carts, and additional supplies to dormitories, homes, and units on scheduled routes.
• Deliver food, supplemental formulas, and beverages according to a predetermined schedule.
• Perform physical tasks such as standing for long periods, carrying over 45 lbs, pushing, and lifting.
• Check vehicle and trailer for operation and cleanliness at the start of each shift and report major problems.
• Prepare and maintain vehicle operation logs, shipment records, and break‑out summaries.
• Conduct basic vehicle maintenance, fuel vehicles, and perform minor repairs.
• Ensure cargo/food cart capacity is not exceeded and that all safety restraints are used.
• Secure, protect, and load/unload cargo and passengers safely.
• Operate vehicle power lift gates, hydraulic forklifts, and dollies as needed.
• Assist in warehouse and food service tasks, including basic food handling, serving, and cleaning.
• Participate in disaster response, recovery, or COOP activation when requested.

• Work specific shift schedules, extended schedules, and overtime as required.
• Maintain food breakouts, freezers, and chill boxes with proper rotation procedures.
• Restock dining rooms with cleaning supplies, utensils, and sanitation equipment.
• Perform basic math calculations related to transportation and inventory.

• Knowledge of traffic safety regulations.
• Knowledge of food service preparation, serving, and cleaning procedures.
• Skill to maneuver large trucks into tight areas safely.
• Ability to manage time and follow scheduled routes.
• Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions.
• Ability to communicate cooperatively and positively with others.
• Ability to work in a physically challenging environment, tolerate cold and hot conditions.
• Ability to read, write, and comprehend the English language.
• Ability to repeatedly lift 45 lbs.
• Ability to perform basic math computations.
• Ability to back up trailers accurately.
• Ability to complete Safe Use of Restraints (SUR) and Ukeru training.

• Valid Texas driver’s license (obtained within 90 days if not current).
• Texas Department of Public Safety Commercial Driver’s License preferred.
• Food Handlers certification preferred.
• Completion of defensive driving class required.

• Prior experience operating a motor vehicle with passengers and/or transporting cargo (six months preferred).
• Graduation from standard senior high school or equivalent preferred.
• Experience driving a light or medium delivery truck preferred.
• Experience in food service work (paid or unpaid) preferred.
• One year experience operating a commercial motor vehicle preferred.
