Position: Receiving - Day Shift - $17.00 /hour

Responsibilities
  • Receives Bill of Lading from the dock foreman and visually checks for accuracy.
  • Enters purchase order number, number of pallets, date of receipt, carrier, and product count into the computerized inventory system.
  • Breaks down delivery by book title using the packing slip and checks accuracy of quantity and title.
  • Verifies book title against packing slip, scans license plate into the system to link product with location in the warehouse.
  • Weighs, measures length, width, and depth of each book and enters the information into the inventory system.
  • Verifies purchase order number, ISBN, and quantity of books received for accuracy in the inventory system.
  • Attaches license plate sticker to the bottom right corner of the box on the pallet for product identification and tracking.
  • Follows safety rules for personal protection and safety of others, including maintaining a clean and safe work environment.
  • Strips covers off books that have been removed from the computerized inventory system.
  • Removes old book titles from inventory.
  • Assists with inventory cycle counts.
  • Completes other duties as assigned, directed, or requested.
Qualifications
  • Experience operating a sit‑down forklift.
  • Ability to stand up to 8 hours per day and walk up to an hour.
  • No fear of heights.
  • Occasional climbing and push/pull of 11‑25 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching up and out, crouching, kneeling, and push/pull of 36‑50 pounds.
  • Frequent carrying of up to 25 pounds; occasional carrying up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 75 pounds.
  • Occasional repetitive foot movement.
  • Frequent repetitive hand/arm movements, simple reaching, firm grasping, and fine hand manipulation.
  • Specific vision ability required: close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Regular standing; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects; reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to wear gloves occasionally.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Strong communication skills with customers and colleagues.
  • Ability to calculate figures, areas, circumferences, and volumes.
  • Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts.
  • Common sense understanding to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Problem‑solving skills involving multiple concrete variables in standardized situations.
Physical Demands

The work is performed in a warehouse environment. The employee is frequently exposed to vibrations and dust, works around moving machinery, and is in a moderate noise environment. The employee must work in a fast‑paced, team environment.
