Position Summary:
The Senior Accountant will be a part of our Operations Accounting team that is responsible for the accounting and reporting for community operations, capital spending, and manufactured home purchases and spending. This position will interact with various internal teams and should have a strong background in project accounting, capital reporting and cost accounting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review invoices to ensure appropriate accounting and capitalization of spending in accordance with company policy and US GAAP.
- Work with inventory management team to maintain accurate records for manufactured homes.
- Prepare journal entries to place assets into service in the fixed asset module, including property improvements and manufactured homes.
- Prepare monthly accruals for manufactured home purchase and set‑up costs.
- Prepare monthly accruals for construction in process for property improvement projects.
- Review and process manufacture home sales and disposals.
- Understand capitalization and depreciation policies to generate journal entries in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Reconcile fixed asset module balances to general ledger balances, prepare monthly roll forwards and work to explain variances and clear reconciling items.
- Assist in preparation of internal financial reports for manufactured homes and capital spending.
- Assist with internal and external audits as necessary.
- Ad hoc projects as they arise.
Qualifications:
- Strong sense of personal accountability to identify and work within required reporting timelines.
- Familiar with standard accounting concepts, practices and procedures. Knowledge of US GAAP.
- Must have excellent organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook applications.
- Ability to learn new systems and procedures with ease.
- Experience with MRI, Nexus, and Manage America a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.
- Must have a minimum of 5 years working in accounting systems.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years in preparing and reviewing journal entries and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Must have a minimum of 3 years in job cost, cost accounting, fixed asset and/or construction accounting.
COMPENSATION: $65,000 - $80,000 + 10% annual bonus opportunity
