Accounting Manager—2-year growth to Controller About The Opportunity
We’re partnering with a mission-driven, community-focused organization to hire an Accounting Manager who wants more than just a box on the org chart. This is a chance to join a highly respected accounting function within a growing organization led by a strong, people-first leadership team.
The culture here is collaborative, grounded, and genuinely supportive—this is a place where people stay because the leadership is strong and the people are exceptional. Mentorship is core to how the team operates, and this role is ideal for someone who enjoys developing others while continuing to grow themselves.
Company Highlights- Growth runway to Controller in a realistic, supported timeframe
- Small team = broad exposure (corporate, property, and operational accounting)
- Accounting is well respected internally and viewed as a strategic partner
- Leadership that truly values mentorship and development
- Organization is deeply involved in community service and impact-driven work
- Meaningful work, strong culture, and work-life balance that’s actually respected
- The Accounting Manager will play a hands‑on leadership role within a multi‑entity environment, supporting both corporate and operational accounting. Because this is a lean, well‑run team, the role offers exposure across multiple areas rather than being siloed or pigeonholed.
- This position has a clear path to Controller‑level responsibility within ~2 years for the right individual.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and oversee day‑to‑day accounting operations across multiple entities
- Lead month‑end close, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial reviews
- Support corporate accounting and property/project‑level accounting activities
- Review and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and GAAP compliance
- Partner closely with operations, development, and leadership teams
- Strengthen internal controls and improve accounting processes
- Mentor and develop accounting staff; foster a collaborative team environment
- Assist with audits and external partner relationships
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 5–8+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Prior experience in real estate, construction, development, or project‑based environments is a major plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP and full‑cycle accounting
- Comfortable operating in a small‑company, high‑visibility environment
