Position Overview

Robert Half is partnering with a Family owned O& G company in Denver to add an Accounting Manager to their team. This is a hands-on role that involves working closely with the President and a small, self-sufficient accounting team that includes Accounts Payable and Revenue Accounting.

While the title is Accounting Manager, this position is best suited for someone who enjoys being in the details-a true "workhorse" role responsible for daily accounting operations, general ledger management, financial reporting, and tax preparation support.

Key Responsibilities

+ Manage all aspects of general ledger accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close.

+ Prepare and analyze internal financial statements and reports for management.

+ Maintain cash activity and perform cash reconciliations.

+ Prepare annual work papers and support documentation for external CPA firm during tax preparation.

+ Coordinate with external CPA on depletion, depreciation, and other adjusting entries.

+ Collaborate closely with AP and Revenue Accounting to ensure accuracy and completeness of financial data.

+ Participate in process improvements and maintain internal accounting controls.

+ Support ad hoc financial projects and reporting needs as they arise.

Requirements

Qualifications

+ 10+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 5 years in upstream oil & gas operations preferred.

+ Experience in a small company environment, comfortable handling multiple aspects of accounting.

+ Strong understanding of oil and gas accounting practices and revenue cycles.

+ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (not required).

+ Hands-on, self-motivated professional who thrives in a collaborative, team-oriented setting.

+ Proficient with accounting software; experience with Quorum is a plus.

+ Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills.
