Overview
Our client (Insurance Industry) is seeking an experienced Controller to support day-to-day accounting operations and lead the conversion from cash-basis to GAAP accounting. This role requires hands-on ownership of the accounting function and comfort operating in a lean environment.
Responsibilities- Own day-to-day accounting operations, including GL, journal entries, and reconciliations
- Lead cash-to-GAAP conversion, including identification and implementation of required adjustments
- Establish and maintain GAAP-compliant accounting policies and procedures
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements
- Ensure balance sheet integrity and accurate revenue and expense recognition
- Support ongoing accounting operations post-conversion to ensure GAAP consistency
- Partner with leadership to improve reporting accuracy and close processes
- Proven Controller-level experience within an insurance brokerage or insurance services environment
- Hands-on experience converting accounting from cash basis to GAAP
- Quick Books (required)
- Strong Excel skills for reconciliations, schedules, and adjustments
